Who hasn’t dreamt about being rich or having that ultra-rich best friend? In Kevin Kwan’s novel, Crazy Rich Asians, he introduces us to a beyond comprehension rich lifestyle. An example from the prologue: the manager at a London hotel treated a family of traveling women and children disgracefully. He removed their reservation and asked them to leave because they looked like drowned rats. The problem was solved within an hour when the matriarch’s husband simply purchased the historic hotel.
The book was little slow at times but the extravagance described was unbelievable. $40 million for a wedding and reception??? Kwan adds little footnotes that give explanations concerning slang, unusual foods and cultural oddities. I may have to pick up the next book in the series!
The card I made needs little explanation as to why I made it. It showcases the new Stampin’ Up set Bubbles & Bubbly. I ordered this stamp set planning to make lotion/bubble bath gifts for friends and relatives.
Here’s how it goes down: the base is Whisper White cardstock that is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4. I cut a piece of Gold Glimmer paper to 5-1/2 x 4-1/4. Then I placed it on its diagonal in the trimmer to make two triangles. I used SNAIL adhesive to attach this in place.
I used the the bathtub stamp from Bubbles & Bubbly along with “Pamper Yourself”. Both of those were stamped on Whisper White cardstock with black Memento ink. I used water colors to color and then went over the coloring with an aqua painter. The bubbles ended up a little espresso tinted so I went over them with Wink of Stella glitter. I then fussy cut out the bathtub. I put dimensionals on the bathtub AND then liquid glue on the dimensionals. I have found that dimensionals don’t stick very well to glimmer paper, hence the additional glue.
The banner papers are 1 x 3 to 3-1/2. The banner punch was used on the end of the Whisper White sentiment and on a piece of glimmer paper. I then used some retired gold glitter glue for a little sparkle with the sentiment. This glue needs to dry for a LOOONG time, so be careful about “checking” it. I used liquid glue to attach them together and then SNAIL adhesive to attach to card front.
I think that when I win the Mega-Millions or Powerball jackpot, I will recreate this card using real gold leaf and diamond flakes. It may even have a picture of me in that bubbly bathtub!
