I recently read Mercy Snow by Tiffany Baker. It is a mystery story that takes place in a small lumber town in the New England area. The book had so many layers: the mystery of who caused a fatal bus accident, the history of the lumber business, family dysfunction, and a little bit of supernatural. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, but the ending made me say “Whaaat!”
Here’s the card I made that was inspired by the book. It focuses on the Waterfront stamp set.
I wanted to symbolize the multiple layers of the book. To do this, I used a 6×6 piece of Whisper White paper and embossed the trees using the Woodland embossing folder. I then stamped the river from Waterfront in Night of Navy and Blue Bayou. The trees were stamped in Garden Green and Old Olive. I used the stamping daubers to add a little Old Olive and Blue Bayou to the scenery. I think it highlights the embossing.
The base layer is Garden Green card stock with Garden Green pine trees randomly situated. The gray layer is Basic Gray card stock and ink. I used a retired punch to punch out the sentiment from Waterfront. I used some decorative brads to add a little “oomph” to the label. The label has also been embossed (it was a scrap).
I am planning to “saw’ through another book and “chop” down a few more cards. See you soon!
